Da Nang on $24 a Day
Da Nang is one of Vietnam's best-value beach cities — here's how to comfortably budget $24 a day for a hostel or guesthouse, street food and Grab rides.
Da Nang offers one of the best budget beach stays in Southeast Asia. Beachside guesthouses and hostels are cheap, street food and local restaurants cost a couple of dollars a meal, and the main attractions, from My Khe Beach to the Dragon Bridge and the Marble Mountains, are free or inexpensive. The city is compact and Grab rides are low-priced, so you can see a lot without spending much.
With the right choices, $24 a day is a comfortable, realistic budget, not a stripped-down version of the city. It means staying in a hostel or guesthouse, eating at street stalls and local restaurants, and using Grab or a bicycle for transport. You will still get to the beach, try the food, see the bridges and have a day or two out of town.
Daily Budget Breakdown
🏡 Where to Sleep for Under $14 a Night
Accommodation is easy to find on a budget, especially around An Thuong and My Khe Beach, where hostels, guesthouses and small hotels are plentiful and often include breakfast. The city center near the Han River has local guesthouses that are cheaper still. Prices rise in the dry season, from February to August, and during Vietnamese holidays such as Tet, and you can often negotiate a discount for longer stays.

| Option | Avg. Price/Night | Best For |

Da Nang's local food is both excellent and cheap. A bowl of mi quang, bun cha ca or banh mi costs a dollar or two, and a plate of grilled seafood or banh xeo at a casual restaurant costs only a few dollars. Fresh fruit, iced coffee and juices cost even less. Eating where the locals eat, at small stalls and open-air restaurants, keeps costs low.
Mi Quang
The classic turmeric noodle dish at a local shop, filling and cheap. Avg. 30,000–50,000 VND.
Banh Mi
A crusty baguette with pork, pate and herbs from a street cart. Avg. 15,000–30,000 VND.
Vietnamese Iced Coffee
Strong coffee with condensed milk, available everywhere for a small price. Avg. 20,000–35,000 VND.

🛵 Getting Around Cheaply
Grab is the simplest and cheapest way to get around Da Nang, with fixed fares for both cars and motorbike taxis. Rides between the beach and the city center usually cost just a few dollars. Renting a bicycle is an inexpensive option along the flat beachfront, and a scooter rental is popular for longer trips, though it requires experience and a proper license. A day trip to Hoi An by bus or Grab is cheap compared with organized tours.
⚖️ $24 vs. $70 a Day: What Actually Changes
At $24 a day you will sleep in a hostel or guesthouse, eat at street stalls and local restaurants, and rely on Grab and bicycles. You will still see the beach, the bridges and the Marble Mountains, and eat very well.
At around $70 a day, you move into a hotel with a pool, add sit-down seafood dinners and café stops, and pay for tours such as Ba Na Hills or a day in Hoi An. The comfort goes up, but the best of Da Nang's food and beaches stays the same.

📱 Useful Apps and Tools for Budget Travel
Grab is essential for rides and food delivery, and Google Maps works well in Da Nang. A translation app helps with menus outside tourist areas, and a currency converter is useful for dealing with the many zeros in Vietnamese prices.
Most street stalls and small shops accept only cash, so carry small notes, and withdraw money at bank ATMs for better rates. Wi-Fi is widely available in cafés, hostels and restaurants.
