Nanbin Road: Chongqing's Riverside Skyline Walk
Nanbin Road runs along the southern bank of the Yangtze River through Nan'an District, directly across the water from central Yuzhong District's stacked, vertical skyline. Where Yuzhong's riverfront is dense with buildings right up to the water's edge, Nanbin Road gives you the opposite: open promenades, parks and viewing platforms specifically angled to look back across the river at the skyline you'd otherwise only see from within.
Nanbin Park, a belt of six connected parks strung along the road and the riverbank, anchors much of the walk, offering genuine green space that's relatively scarce in Chongqing's hillier, more built-up central districts. The area has developed steadily as a dining and nightlife strip in its own right, with restaurants and bars positioned to take full advantage of the skyline view rather than simply existing alongside it.
The Yangtze River Cableway's Nan'an-side station drops you almost directly onto Nanbin Road, making the two a natural single outing — cross the river by cable car, then walk the promenade for the reverse view. The road stretches for several kilometers, so most visitors pick a single stretch near the cableway station or a specific viewpoint rather than attempting to walk its full length.

Nanbin Road is considerably quieter and less crowded than the Yuzhong side of the river, even though the view it offers of the skyline is arguably the better of the two.
Nanbin Road is reachable via several Nan'an-side metro stations along its length, or directly from the Yangtze River Cableway's southern terminus if you're combining the two. Because the road runs for kilometers along the riverbank, having a rough idea of which stretch you want to walk — near the cableway, or further along toward one of the Nanbin Park sections — saves considerable backtracking.
